Reviews
Love this tire.
Running a 26"/1.35" Kojak on the rear of my old MTB (dual susp) converted to a road/gravel/workout/town/everything/whatever bike. 25-50 miles/wk on this bike, 85% road, 15% hardpack/gravel.
After about a year it's suffered only one flat even though prior to this tire I'd typically get 5 or so flats/year on this bike with other slicks. The external rubber has numerous small cuts, but the tire is holding strong nevertheless. Very resistant to flats, very reliable! Despite being a slick, it's totally rideable on hardpack and gravel. Doesn't rain here much, but when it does, I haven't noticed any traction issues when ridden sanely. Also it lasts a long time, does not wear out too quickly. My tire is pretty squared off at this point but I'll keep riding it for the time being. Good job, Schwalbe.
I believe that only way to become familiar with anything is to try it for yourself. I can leave a positive review about the Schwalbe Kodak's, but ultimately you'll just have to pull the trigger and buy the set. I bought a pair of the 26x2.0 for a converted electric MTB commuter, and so far it grips, it rolls smooth and absorbs the irregularities of the broken surface streets where I live. I'm happy with the tires and will look at buying them again, sometime down the road, pun intended. So get yourself a pair of these Schwalbes and try them out.
Bought the Kojaks to replace the tires that came on an inexpensive mountain bike bought on Amazon. The bike has been converted to an ebike and I wanted wider slicks to give it a cleaner streamlined serious biker look and the Kojaks fit that bill with minimal markings on the sidewall and no reflective band, I don’t like reflective band on tires. The rolling is smooth and even if there are any rolling resistance the ebike motor overcomes that. I’m satisfied with my tire purchase. Also, a big thanks to the BikeTiresDirect staff for getting the tires out quickly and on the way to the customer.
I ordered this tire for my mountain bike to use on a home trainer. I looked at several different websites and brands, and while deciding, called Bike Tires Direct customer service. They recommended this tire and another road one, telling me in detail the benefits of both while being very friendly and helpful. I bought the tire shortly after hanging up, received it in the mail promptly, and it works great! It is the perfect tire and I'm glad I had someone to steer me in the right direction, as well as give a very personal experience to online shopping. Highly recommend the tire, the website, and the people!
I wanted something that rolled smooth on pavement and soaked up bumps.in the road...check and check! My expectations for tire wear were low, but after ~500mi, these things still look NEW! Side note: while all tire beads SHOULD be the same size, invariably some are a tight fit and hard to install while others go on pretty easy. This Schwalbe was a delightfully easy install. This was my first Schwalbe tire, but will not be my last!
This really is a fantastic tire. It is easy to mount, rolls really smoothly, and can run at high pressure for an affordable price. It is however not reflective. I have other Schwalbe tires that are reflective and they show up white bright when I point a flashlight into my dark garage. Not the Kojak. For me this is not a dealbreaker as my bicycle has enough other reflected properties. I hope this helps somebody.
