I bought these shoes for a road bike trip in France and Spain. I wanted the convenience of being able to walk around like a tourist and to ride decent mileage too. My old shoes made my feet hurt on longer rides, not enough support. These were perfect, we rode 379 miles in the Pyrenees the first week with 38,000 feet of climbing, no problems with my feet at all. I'd like to get the heat molding done if I can find a local shop to perform the task.

Last shoe was a Sidi Dominator, the Shimano XC70's have a different feel. Tighter in the middle with better toe box space and a lot stiffer. Heel is strange because of the material is designed to help keep your heel in the shoe. It's kind of weird, I'm not sure how that really works, but while walking, the material grabs your socks, creating the sensation of your sock's are being pulled down into the shoe. It only while walking, because when your riding clipped in, wow, you are one with the cranks.
Great feel, and very comfortable... Seem to be pretty durable so far as well, only about 30 hours in them so far with the longest being 6 hours, and no problems, no loss of comfort... So far, I would buy these shoes again... We'll see after several months of Summer in the high Sierra...
