I picked up a set of these tires to ride more technical trails on my CX bike instead of my mountain bike and have been very pleased. They don't have the most tread so not great for lots of mud but still grippy. Fit with no problems on a Kona Jake the Snake.

Tires are very soft, ride well and provide good traction. They perform well in the rain and the dry pavement. My main concern is that they don't last. 300 miles on them and they are showing lots of wear from road use only. While I like them I would not buy them again just because they don't seem to last.

I recently went on a bike trip and found that these tires handled well on a non-paved surface

I use this bike while going to parks and campgrounds and also on the city streets where I live. The tires are excelent for all my needs.

I got these tires for my commute bike and really like them so far. They are real solid tires for the chunky city streets I ride on. They seem really well made, and (bonus!) even have a nice reflective side wall strip that other riders have noticed and liked. They are fatties though, you'll need a lot of frame clearance - and cantilever brakes - to get these on your ride.

Have these mounted on my BD CX fixie. Only use them in the summer when the fenders are off due to clearance issues. Last year did 350K on the Kettle Valley Rail trail. With panniers the rear did show some wear. Have about 1000k on them now and have switched front to back to get another season out of them. Overall provide a nice plush ride, and allow for aggressive riding in all conditions with the big contact patch. No flats yet...

I have set of these that I put on a 2010 Specialized Tri-cross and they are comfortable, but after only 839 miles the rear one just had a flat and I was looking and noticed that the center of the tire was well worn already. Granted, I'm a 250 pound rider but I do keep them inflated to 85 pounds. And mainly they are used on blacktop. If I can't get a couple of thousand miles out of a set of tires I'm disappointed, especially when bicycle tires are almost expensive as car tires!

Continental, I believe, is ahead of the curve in offering Monster Cross tires. They have numerous tires in 700x42. The cyclocross tire is a STEAL at this price. The tire has proven after around 2000 miles to be consistently durable, reliable and it grips like nobody's business. I am using these as extreme MudWinter tires on my La Cruz. They fit my frame perfectly but they are VERY wide...check your clearance and will take on any terrain I can throw at it. While I wouldn't take them on very technical singletrack, they are reat for anything else. I do pavement, mud, gravel, sand, snow, grass and everything in between on these. The downside? Yes, they are heavy. No surprise, you can't have it all. Your trail shoes will always look stupid paired with a suit. Get bover it.
