WTB Byway TCS SG2 700c Gravel Tire
The WTB Byway TCS 700c is for days of endless hardpack exploration and gravel grinding while also providing noticeable efficiency on any pavement linking it all together. A swiftly smooth centerline is paired to a textured intermediate section that provides a seamless transition onto small outer knobs for unwavering traction in loose dirt and gravel. Prominent outer knobs also extend down the sidewall to provide an additional level of defense from roadside unpleasantries of all shapes and sizes.
Take your tires to the next level with SG2
This version of the 700c Byway features WTB's all-new SG2 puncture protection. This new protection layer is a lightweight, ultra-thin nylon insert that provides bead-to-bead coverage to ensure all surfaces of the tire are provided with an additional level of defense against punctures.
Exactly how much more durable are they? Lab tests show the addition of the bead-to-bead SG2 puncture protection layer to a 120tpi casing provides 33% more sidewall protection and 17% more tread protection than the standard 60tpi offerings without SG2.
While SG2 is primarily a puncture protection layer, its tightly woven fibers also improve air retention, which prevents seeping at the sidewall and helps maintain pressure between rides.

Reviews
Sidewall seam leaks. Orange seal seems to work better than Stan's, but side wall leak continues. A few rides in and the sidewall has a tear which will not self seal. So much for SG2 sidewall protection. Had to throw a tube in because of these issues. Don't buy this tire you'll probably regret it. At this price particularly these issues are unacceptable. Thankfully bike tires direct offered me a return to swap to something different. Great customer service as always.
I do a lot of mixed pavement and gravel riding. These feel nice on the pavement and when cornering on gravel you can feel the side knobs hook up.
I did have one of the tires develop a bubble in the tread and WTB replaced it right away via warranty.
Like all WTB tires these are very easy to mount tubeless.
Bought these front and back after a bad experience with soma shikoro tires. I'm running them 40/45 psi with tubes. Punctured the rear tire on glass on a bike lane a few days after purchase. Swapped the rear and front, thought i'd be okay for a while, but noticed a tear and bulge in the sidewall this morning on my way out for a ride. Got about a month out of them. Would not recommend.
