Description
The Surly ExtraTerrestrial Adventure Tire is designed to ride without limits, featuring a high-volume, heavy-duty construction. This tire shines on hard packed surfaces, featuring a distinctly directional tread pattern that yields more traction than you might expect, yet still offers very low rolling resistance. With its 2.5" width, the ExtraTerrestrial offers enough width and traction for the soft stuff, as well.
The Surly ExtraTerrestrial Adventure Tire measures 29x2.5". 60 TPI casing. Tubeless ready.

Reviews
I have a 29 on the front and a 27.5 on the back of my Turbo Tero bike. I love the grip on hard packed dirt and the fact they provide excellent traction and wear on the pavement. I ride mostly on pavement,
Only a little over a 1000 miles so far and looking good.
Does the recently manufactured lots of this item still fit for these Surly ExtraTerrestrial (tubeless) tires? Mine didn't The story I bought this tire in 2018 for 29 carbon rims. I used them for about 5000 miles and loved them. Problems came for replacement tire same type and brand and same bike and rims (except grey wall). These exact same tires were cut too small and they did not fit. I actually put the old tire back on and those fit! I had NO trouble fitting the 2018 pair on compared to the exact same 2020 pair. What happened? The carbon rims certainly didn't shrink. After struggling and not wanting to break my rims, I returned both tires for refund. Beware small cut of these. It's not you, it's the tire!
I have a very weird eMTB. It's a 29er, and before the pandemic it was my daily commuter on shitty LA pavement. Nowadays I used it for mixed stuff, including fire roads and some light trails. It's really hard to find a wide 29 tire that fits that kind of usage, but this one gets the job done.
Tubeless setup was a breeze as well, highly recommended
I bought these tires for my Salsa El Mariachi, for which I replaced the stock wheels with ones having wider rims (Ibis 938). My goal was to have a faster rolling bike that I can use on both pavement and gravel. I think I've achieved this with these Surly ETs. I'm going tubeless and they seated onto the 938s very easily. I love the way the bike handles with these tires ... grippy, super stable, and fast(ish). It remains to be seen how well these will wear ... I suspect that will depend on how much pavement I will ride on vs. dirtgravel. But for the moment I would say that I really like these tires!
