The Shimano RS171 is a robust and reliable wheelset for disc-brake gravel, road, cyclocross, and adventure bikes. The WH-RS171 offers a high level of stiffness and riding stability at the entry-level segment at an accessible price point for all cyclists, without sacrificing technology.
The strong alloy rims have a rim width of 19mm, pairing well with modern, wider tire road bikes. The solid hub technology is equipped with a thru-axle and Center lock disc rotor mount, allowing the security you want during off-camber descents and muddy hairpin turns.

I got sick and tired with wrestling with tires (tubeless ready or not) to fit on TR wheels. I searched and searched for a good set of disc road wheels and found these Shimanos. They are a great bargain for a fairly stiff and not too heavy wheel set. The hubs spin very well! I swear I'm going faster with this new wheel set even though I don't run tubeless anymore. I'd highly recommend this wheelset. I haven't had them long and so cannot speak to durability. My guess is that they will do great.
I bought this wheelset to run in winter with studded tires. It�s heavy but can dead true and hubs roll smooth. This is probably the nicest cheapest thru axle wheelset you can get
As a bonus the cassette and disc mounts align perfectly with my DT Swiss 240 hubs so these can be swapped with zero adjustments
These wheels are used as a second set for my winter riding through ice and snow. Thanks to the guidance of the sales person at Bike Tires Direct, I got the right Shimano rear cluster and associated tool to go with these wheels. The quality of this wheelset is very good. I have studded snow tires mounted on them.
