Reviews
Well folks, the time comes when you are looking at 60 years in the rear view mirror and realize you need a little more spin for those steep skyline hills. My solution, the shimano ultegra 10 speed cassette with a thirty tooth cog. yep for now this old guy can still spin up those steep hills and enjoy it! Where you say can I get one? Well greybeard, at Bike Tires Direct of course! I have bought my tools of the road from these guys for many years and never once had a problem, shipping is fast and the price spot on. Disclaimer I do not work for these guys, really. I Just appreciate them. Have a great ride and I will see you out there!
First time to ever change out a cassette, wow a very easy process. After replacing the cassette check out shifting with your chain and your back on the road again. 10 minutes max to replace a cassette. Faster than replacing a flat tire! Save few bucks, do it yourself. My old Shimano cassette a little over 8,000 miles still working but thought with a great price at Bike Tires Direct why not replace the cassette. Shimano TOP quality products along with Bike Tires Direct, my go to online bike store.
I have been using the Ultegra cassettes for years. You can spend much more on a cassette but you won't get a better one. These work as well as anything and just last and last and last. Dura-Ace might save a gram or two and work the same, but it won't give you the long service life the Ultegra does. If you want a cassette that you can install and more or less forget about all while enjoying beautiful shifts day in and day out - this is it.
I needed to replace my 10-speed Dura-ace cassette because of worn cogs and was originally looking for a Dura-ace 10-speed cassette. Not only were they difficult to find, but the few I found were extremely expensive! I "settled" for this Ultegra cassette and I am very glad I did. Not only is it waaay less expensive, but the shifting is just as clean and crisp as my Dura-ace cassette. Even though I know there is a weight difference, I really can't feel it in any way. I have it paired with a SRAM hollow-pin chain and the combination works extremely well. I would definitely recommend this cassette.
Shimano Ultegra 10-speed cassette CS-6700 236g (12/25) $75 compared to Dura Ace CS-7900 163g (11/25) $180. Ultegra is only 73g (2.5oz) added weight over Dura Ace, but $110 less. That's about the weight of a Clif bar in your cycling jersey pocket ??. Ultegra is the intelligent cost-weight ratio choice. Wait for the next BikeTireDirect sales event and save an additional 20% !
Replaced worn out Shimano 10 speed cassette with a new Shimano 6700 10 speed cassette, works great at a reasonable price, timely delivery, and I am a very happy customer with Bike tires direct.
I am still running 10 speed. Needed a new cassette for a new Hed wheel. For $XX, these are incredible deal! The finish holds up really well, too. Seems to be more durable than Dura Ace for a lot less $ and just a little more weight.
Good product by Shimano. Still think price could be a little lower since they are mass produced. I do like the quality control though. Decent packaging. Product could come with an extra bottom spacer.
The Shimano Ultegra CS-6700 cassette is a workhorse cassette and is a great deal on BikeTiresDirect. have two bicycles with Shimano 10 speed components (105 and Ultegra ) and opted to replace the cassette and chain, swapping the 105 components for Ultegra. This was a no-brainer . . . great components at a phenomenal price! You really can't go wrong with the Shimano Ultegra CS-6700 cassette - if you've logged several thousand miles on your drivetrain and you haven't replaced it yet, now is the time to secure a great deal on a cassette/chain - replace your cassette today (your bike will love you for it!)
So you may be asking yourself, why don't I just buy the Shimano 105 or the Dura Ace? The Ultegra is the best of both worlds - it's lightweight but durable enough to withstand thousands of miles with little wear (as long as you maintain your drivetrain with cleaning and proper lubrication).
