Reviews
These wear better than the race version, which is as expected of course. And since they are more substantially built they are not quite as supple as the race - but again as expected.
What was not expected was how difficult these were to mount compared to race versions in 30 and 28.
Those other tires slipped on easily to a set of Zipp 303s. These tires were (almost) impossible to get on.
I bought these for a spare set of wheels on a gravel bike for training rides on mostly pavement and they do the job well. I haven't put a ton of miles on them, but they feel good and have had no punctures.
They were not hard to get on the rims, but I could not get them to seal with only a floor pump. That's not unusual, but the reason I deducted one star.
Nice tires but they don't seem to be overly robust. Within a couple of hundred miles I already have chunks in the sidewalls of the tire (cords showing). I've had to repair these with dabs of black RTV sealant. I presume these are from hitting angled pavement joints.
It would also be nice if Pirelli molded in treadwear indicators so one could tell when they are getting too worn to continue using.
