Reviews
These are easy tubeless tires to install with a compressor. I usually get at least 2500 miles out of the tire and punctures are rare. Ive used this tire consistently the last couple of years and overall I am pleased with its performance.
I have long been a fan of Maxxis TR on the mountain and gravel bikes. As a relatively early adopter of tubeless on my road bikes, I had a bit of experience with different wheelsets, one of which was Shimano Ultegra factory setup. Until I tried the Maxxis High Road, the experience with road setup was very disappointing. Loved the superior ride quality but getting them mounted, sealed and keeping them sealed just sucked! Then I tried the High Roads. Night and day difference was notable out of the box! Just like the MTB and gravel, they mount up and seal up like a dream, no sweat, no swearing and no Orange Seal all over the garage! Ride quality is excellent, particularly on the 28s. 170 TPI is supple but seems to be durable, handle very well at the 75 to 85 psi I run them at but note they can go to 65. Can't really comment on the rolling resistance and frankly I don't care given all the pluses above of being reasonable to work with, confidence that if I had to get a tube in on the road I could without divine intervention. As I titled the review, the High Roads appear to provide the experience that road tubeless promises! Just wish I had found them sooner...
In 2020 I have ridden 8300 miles. The first 2000 were on Specialized new Turbo RapidAir which were an utter disappointment as I went through 3 tires with sidewall rips. I decided on Maxxis as I had never had any issues on MTB over the years.
These tires, while maybe not as supple as the S-Works are basically bombproof. In a 25mm, I have ridden all road surfaces including dirt and gravel. I did burp one time on a Boston pothole but since remount I have put an additional 1500 miles on w/o problems.
6300 road miles on the set now and I will start 2021 on them without worry. Highly recommended!
This race tire handles the tough chip rock pavement well no small cuts or imbedded material after 1500 miles. Riding 28 tubeless hookless wheels. Rode wet pavement and found it to grip well. Would buy again.
Looking for a tubeless tire that can be installed without a lot of effort. These are great and they ride and grip. Will be purchasing more as these are my go to tire now.
