Great all road condition tire

I bought a set of the 35s for a tour down the Oregon coast. I had all sorts of weather and road conditions. Through the heavy rain, rough gravel sections, and fast downhills these tires were perfect. I didn't have a single flat in about 500 miles riding down the coast, and still nothing having used these tires in town and even on dirt roads. I would buy these again whenever these do wear out.

Thank you for your feedback.

Great tire for commuting.

I've used these tires on my commuter since 2008. Have had only one flat - a pinch flat on a pothole. Replaced the rear tire after 3000 miles. I like the reflective bead on the sides. I only wish they came with folding beads.

Thank you for your feedback.

the reflective stripe is bright.

Cheap, haven't gotten a flat. No wear after 2 months of steady riding. I bought a white 28 for the front (no reflective stripe) and a reflective black 32 for the back. They are basic tires with light tread (doesn't slow you down) at a good price. Max pressure is 85psi for the 700 x 28 and 75psi for the 700 x 32.

Thank you for your feedback.

Great tires

These tires feel great, sturdy, and work well for my bike commute.

I needed new tires for my cyclocross bike that I use to commute to downtown Portland from n.e. Portland.

I ride in all sorts of terrain between my house and work, bridges, potholes, dirt roads, beat up pavement, you name it.

These so far are chopping thru all the debris I encounter.

Thank you for your feedback.

Nice reflective tires!

These tires are great, albeit a bit difficult to put on. A friend recommended these to me for my Surly Cross Check. I put the 32mm wreflective stripe on my bike about a month ago. They make great commuting tires and the reflective strips make me feel super safe while riding home in the dark. I accidentally rode over broken glass a couple times and so far no flats! I'm glad I got these tires.

Thank you for your feedback.

Good commuter tires

Use for daily commuting. No flats so far, and I've ridden them through some glass. Not as dead feeling as expected, given their thick casings and puncture resistant belts, but I probably wouldn't use them for recreational riding. The reflective sidewall stripes are a nice extra touch for night riding. Easy to install, although I think this normally has more to do with the rim-tire combination than tires alone. Width seems true to size for the 35C size, which is a good width for commuting on city streets in the dark.

Thank you for your feedback.

My go to rear tire for my fixedfreewheel.

I've been running only Randonneurs as it is the only tire I trust for my rear for 4 years already and have a hard time wanting to try anything else (I want to try fixation tires but the price is golden on Randos). I like how the thread pattern works and looks. It can handle the abusive 25 and up MPH skids when riding fixed. I usually run 700x32 and they corner great. I love the red strip as it lets me know I'm getting close for a replacement and usually wear it to the very end after the red into the last cross threads before it blows out as I ride 48x17. I LOVE this tire because it's thick and lasts a really long time. Even when I ride fixed and do skids just for fun. I also like to run it at 100psi. The tire feels solid and not hard like if it was over pumped. I skid both ways so I get great tire wear coverage all around when locking up. Its grippy, slides great. At high speeds I've been told I make the tire smoke, and it doesn't kill the tire nearly as bad as you'd think. 4 yrs later I'm still recommending this tire to friends.I trust this tire with my life (literally) in the rain. I even ran over a nasty chunk of glass at night once and while it chomped out a nasty size chunk to where I could see the red lining. It survived to were I know others would of failed. I love this tire. The reflective strip is great but eventually starts to peel. I even have them on my road bike knowing I don't have to buy tires for a while. My verdict Get one for your fixedSS, two for roadtouring. You will not regret it. Soma everwears are just as good, but the red strip and layers really seal the deal.

PS Once you learn how to mount them, its no problem. I've had no problem replacing one on the road.

Thank you for your feedback.

bulletproof.

I meant to say 700x28, not 700x32, haha. Randonneurs are one of the great tires when you think fixed gear... I've tried regular, faster tolling types only to blowout. These roll great. Can handle dirt should you need to take the road less traveled. I ride with a Soma Everwear in the front and Rando in the rear. Soma in the front is still going strong. Rando's despite the abuse I inflict on them, are bulletproof in my book. GET SOME3 They are also great for drag races.

No flats, not a one...

I have had 700x28 of these tires and have had no problems at all. No flats, fast enough for non-racy types, can even handle dry dirt roads and some trails with no problems, plus they carry my 200 pounds plus panniers full of groceriesheavy loads fine. They could be a bit lighter and more supple, but they're flat-proof commutertouring tires and they allow you to ride worry free. I really don't know what the last two negative reviews were talking about - never had any experience like that and I've run them for 2 years...whatever. I will most likely buy the 700x32 size next time. Also, I do not find removing the tire to be difficult at all. I removed them by hand with ease.

These tires are extremely hard to mount. Mount them in the store before you buy.

These tires were extremely hard to mount. I have never seen broken levers in removing a tire. This was compounded by a punctured tube in the remount. The tires are definitely going back.

What a Piece of CRAP!!!

I have ridden many tires over the years and I cannot believe the poor quality of construction used in this tire. DO NOT buy these crappy tires unless you will be using them for display purposes ONLY!!! The casing rots away and causes the tire to act really squirmy after it is about half used, and creates an extremely unsafe condition. If you use these *** make sure that you inspect them carefully after EVERY ride and throw them out as soon as you notice any bulges, or distortion in the tread... they are just getting ready to let loose!!! I would relly like to keep using these tires because of the puncture resistance, but I like keeping my skin on my body instead of the road....

stiff but durable

I bought a pair of the white ones 2 years ago. Commuted with them almost all year round (I changed for cyclocross tires for the Chicago winter). They still look new & I never got a flat BUT they are heavy & slow (so am I), they are so stiff that you may even damage your rim trying to get them in. If you are ready to break a sweat (and maybe a lever or two) installing them, then buy them. They will last forever & they are cheaper than the competition. They will get stiffer as they age.

Stay Away from these Tires

These tires are terrible! They would not even fit on the rim without a lot of pushing and pulling. I don't believe I could have even gotten the tire off in the field! Before anyone says it was the incorrect size, it is the same size as the tire it replaced. I fought with them for a while until I finally gave up. They are being sent back today!

great commuter tire

I've used these tires for my daily for years. I've tried other brandsmodels but came back to these for their durability. I've had few if any flats - they are very puncture resistant. Great in rain and reasonable on rough surfaces and debris. The reflective strip is a definite bonus providing excellent side visibility at night.

High puncture resistance and great in wet conditions.

Use daily for city commuting in heavy traffic. Reflective sidewalls are a plus. Two sets in 4 years and never had single puncture. A great value IMO.

Good but...

I agree with the others that this is a good value and extremely flat resistant, my only problem is that the pair I have seem to have hardened in the year and 9 months since purchase. So much so that the last time I flatted I broke my trusty Var levers getting the bead off the rim and bent the Park levers I bought to get the bead back on. When new they nearly went on with just hands alone. In all my 40 years on a bike I have never seen anything like it.

Yes I skid on these

Most of the reviews on here talk about long mileage with their road bikes. No hating here, but I use it to skid on my track bike. These tires are comparable to Continental Touring Plus's. I alternate between the two as my rear tire. All you fixietrack riders DO NOT RUN THIS AS YOUR FRONT TIRE. Get a tire that holds a higher PSI because the randonneur only holds 85. This tire skids like butter and it has many layers and they're colored so you can kinda estimate how long you have until you need to swap it out. I don't regret buying my first randonneur and after I run through the rest of my continental's, I'm buying 3 randonneurs so I can save some time from buying everytime I need a tire. Order online...stores in SF charge around $32-35.

Best touringcity tire, and not just for the money.

I've got about 3000 miles on these tires. Still plenty of tread. Got me through rain, a bit of snow, more rain, and now they're cruisin' beautifully on the hot pavement. It's a really stiff tire, so the PSI is low but the responsiveness is still great, over a year riding every single day on these and I have yet to flat! knock on wood.

a follow up, I''m still impressed

This is a follow up to my earlier review. With now close to 1K miles on these I've jacked the pressure up to 80psi and found a bit more speed without a negative change in handling. The ride is still good and they work well in the wet and dry. So far no flats either! A **** good tire for the money!!
