Many other reviewers wrote that these tires are difficult to mount, and I almost did not order them because of that.
I was able to mount both 700 x 32 (reflective) on my 700 rims easily without tools, just hand pressure using 28-32 x 700 tubes. If I had to take them off, it would be easy with just one or two levers. They were as easy to mount as the many tires I have mounted before from many other bike tire manufacturers in many other sizes. The only tires that I ever had in the past that were impossible to mount properly and had to be returned were Schwalbe.
Maybe Vittoria fixed the sizing problem?
The front tire seated evenly first try. The rear tire was a little off-I am a perfectionist-so I deflated and massaged it a bit and while not perfect-it seated pretty even. Most shops and others would have not even adjusted it after the first try.
It looks great on the bike and the reflective strip really lights up the bike from the side-great for safety.
I tested them at the beach on the very sandy beach paths for miles and they gripped extremely well.
I have only had them a couple of hundred miles so I can't comment on reliability, puncture resistance, and wear. Hope to update that in the future.

Perfect for my commute, training and touring. Never a flat!
Review by M Walker
I am a four-season cyclist and I was looking for something to help keep me upright and moving at a good clip during those months when narrow, training tires were too slick and before heavy snow and ice called for studded mountain bike tires. I have had these tires now for a little over a year and have logged about 2000 miles on them, the vast majority of which were commuting miles. A few times conditions were a bit dicey - ice covered roads that I should have used studded tires on - but the Vittoria's kept me snug and upright. No wrecks yet on these. Another point of interest are flats. I live in puncture vine country, so flats are just a way of life. However, I have had only one flat on these and it was from a roofing nail. All other potential bringers of doom have been shed-away. My initial interest in these tires was their grip, which has turned out to be perfect. My interest in flat prevention was not a concern, thinking it doesn't matter, you will get a flat. So their ruggedness has been a pleasant surprise. My one criticism is that they are not the speediest tires, but then they are not designed to be. A good purchase for trouble-free commuting.

Vittoria makes high quality tires that are worth the money compared to other brands, especially 'house' and 'off' brands. I also want to take a moment to talk about the GREAT SERVICE I have received from BIKE TIRES DIRECT. Local shops have disappeared where I live, used to be 3-4 now there is one and they struggle. I've used other online bike shops and they are OK but after a few orders and one product issue I can say BTD is the best. Great products, more choices and a staff that treat you good when there is a problem. Accurate and quick delivery and super customer service ... SUPER!

This is a great tire for long wear and no troubles. I have put many thousands on these tires with out one flat.

I've had a number of different commutingcity tires. This was the only tire I've tried that I found did not handle wet pavement very well. I tended to spin the rear tire climbing steep hills and turning on the downhill seemed a little shaky.

Minimal flats and excellent tread life make these a great choice for commutes and errands. And reflective tires are a must for night riding

I've gone through lots of these over the years and I keep coming back. They're cheap, they hold up very well, and they're not too slow. Grip is good in all sorts of conditions. They aren't race tires, and fashion cyclists won't write about your bike on their blog. But for everything else, they just work. They also seem to be quite low profile they are the only 28 I've found that fits on my tightest-clearance bike.

I use this on my commuter bike and almost feel like I don't need to carry tire repair stuff. So far I have not flatted at all and have about 2000 miles on them. They grip great in all conditions. They do seem heavy and have what seems to be high rolling resistance but that all is expected for these type of tires.

These new 700x40 (which actual measure 43mm) are practically a game changer tire size for me. Covered 40 miles of Mickelson Trail and gravel road and they were a dream compared to my old 38s. Will run this combo in place of my 2.3" knobbied Fargo on a lot of local roads now.

Finally wore all the way through the outer rubber into the tan layer underneath. Never flatted once in 4000 miles. Ordering another one!

I chose these as my new bike commutingshopping tire, I had Zaffiro before and thought these had a good price and Vittoria made good tires. I bought 700c x 28mm so I would be able to get fenders on the vintage bike.
Negative 1. Stupid me bought the rigid wire tires and they were the worst ever fitting them my Sun CR18 rims. These tires have a directional tread so I had to take them off to flip them (haha) and it was harder to get off then put on!!!!! You better have a tire jack if you can't rip phone books in half! This is crucial on a commuter since if you have to change a flat you don't want it to be a pain in the keester.
Next Negative. I pumped these up to around 80psi and measured the width with a caliper. 25MM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you kidding me????????? NOT EVEN CLOSE TO 28MM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm looking for a little comfort with bigger tires!!! I'm seriously hoping it comes out that they all got mis-labled. I have 1 Panaracers on another and they measure close 28mm. WTF?
Positives (Ha) - Just a few short rides over some crackling road and they ride well, you know, since they're not 28mm after all. So fairly quick riding, and the comfort level is not bad. I like the feel of the rubber, it has thickness and strength and yet are pliable to smooth out bumps. In the hands before install I liked the feel of them. They have a nice look to them (way to go designers!). They feel like they will prevent flats.
Reccomendation - Do not buy, if you have to change a flat on these it will be your worse nightmare. Kind of pissed off by them.

These tires came on my new Jamis. In one year I ended up with 6 flats in the back and 4 in the front. All that in a total of 1,000 miles. Anything can puncture through these tires with ease. I've never had more flats riding the same roads then these horrible HORRIBLE tires!

Have used Vittoria 700 x 35c Randonneur tires for several years. I weigh around 250lbs and wear out a rear tire every year. These tires are great. I average 3,000 to 5,000 miles per year. They don't deform from use and they don't get flats unless they are worn out. That's my way of knowing when to replace the tire. I use the tires about 60% paved road 40% dirt road. Highly recommend this tire.

Good tire....easy to change flats. Great value from BTD.com

I ride a Surly Disc Trucker on my 20 commute on DC bike paths and roads. Instead of the 35mms it came with I thought I would try a narrower tire to increase speed. These 28mms actually felt slower and sluggish. I rode them once and took them off. I also discovered I preferred the wider size to hop curbs, traction on wet bridges, and to carry the weight of my loaded panniers, etc.

I ride my bike to work 6 days a week. I ride about 40 miles a week. This tire seems like is going to last for a while. The only thing that I have to say against the tire is that it make the bike feel heavy. But I think it's to be expected since the tire is bigger

Even though it is heavy, it has all the features that were important to me. It is a tough tire that has already covered 300 miles and shows little wear and no flats despite the rough roads. The tread provides confidence in handling on less than ideal conditions without adding substantial rolling resistance. The reflective band was also a bonus since I do a lot of riding in the early morning or after dark in the evening. Overall, a great commuter tire for the price and so far I am very happy with them.

If you are an urban cyclistcommuter - please skip ArmadilloGatorskins.
Get these Vittoria Randonneurs. They are durable and puncture resistant.
I have these on all four of my bikes.

Changing a tire should be one of the easiest things you can do, right? Well, after an hour spent trying to wrestle these tires onto my wheels, I finally gave up and drove to my local bike shop ... whereupon the mechanic spent another half an hour trying to get the tires onto my wheels ... and failed. Yes, we checked that my wheels didn't magically grow in size - other 700c wheels fit just fine. For some reason, these tires just would not fit on a standard 700c wheel. Maybe I just got a bad batch, or maybe the shrunk when left in a hot warehouse or ...??? In any event, back they go!
