We've been touring with Shimano sandals for years now. They are the perfect solution for touring. Add a pair of Gore-Tex booties and you've got an all-weather combination that can't be beat! We tryed Keen's as well but they just did not fit as comfortably with the toe box. The Shimano's are comfortable, durable and practical. We use the Speedplay Frog pedalcleat system and they work well with that. Comfortable off-bike as well. Great for the warmer climates that many touring cyclists prefer. My gf wears them without socks but I usually wear a good pair of cycling socks with mine.
