I use it on my road bike so I dont have to scrape my cleats when I walk and its easier to get into my road pedals.

Good fit, nice shoes for the price. They don't seem really substantial and am worried how they will wear. But, I bought them for limited use with a cross bike. So far, they are doing the job well.

I used the SH-M086 shoes for a few (4?) years and decided to get these as the tread became worn and some of the fabric began to rip. I believe this new version is much more comfortable, stiffer, has a better tread pattern and maintains the same sizing as the old version. Shimano shoes fit me well and I use them for both road and mtb.
I am not sure why other users feel the sizing is off. I wear size 44 in Ecco dress shoes and a 44 in Shimano cycling shoes. For inexpensive sneakers I tend to wear 10.5 US. My feet are a standard width, I have high and stiff arches, my big toe is somewhat shorter than the next toe over, and Specialized BG shoes cause me both foot and knee pain. Your feet may vary.

I liked my SPD-equipped sandals, but I wanted to try a shoe that wouldn't let my feet slide around inside as much. I went with the mountain bike version of this shoe rather than the road version because I'm a recumbent rider and I need the grippiness of the mountain bike sole when I put a foot down when stopped. These work perfectly - stiff sole, excellent fit adjustment, and I can walk around off the bike without clacking. And the price is right - as good as these shoes are, I can't help but wonder what kind of gold plating goes into other brands selling for three times as much.

I have very large feet, and don't usually have much choice in the shoes I can get. I often have to settle for less-than-comfortable. But I really like the way these shoes feel. Nice and snug with the ratcheting buckle, but no pressure points.
One caution, though, for my big-footed brethren and sistren. In my opinion, the Euro sizing for this shoe is a little off. I always wear a size US 15, which usually corresponds to Euro 50. For this shoe, Euro 50 aligns to US 14.2. I tried the 50, and it was too small. The Euro 51 fit nicely, though.

Keep in mind that Shimano seems to run one size bigger than other shoes. I usually wear a 45 but wear a 46 in these.

Tried other comparable bike shoes in this price range, these work the best for me. The micro adjust buckle works simply and well. Off the bike, they walk easily. The tongue wanders a bit, if not aligned when putting on (a thread tag to the inside of the shoe helps to keep it centered over the foot). All and all great shoe for the price!

Shoes fit very well and are comfy but after third ride a piece of the sole is already tearing away.

Love the ratching closure.

Perfect shoes for cycling. Very comfortable, light and easy to fix on the pedals. The sole and cleats mean that these are also comfortable for popping into shops or walking into the office without fearing falling over!
great buy

I only use them for short rides (a biketrolleybike commute), but they are comfortable for riding and for walking. Little bit of flex in the soles which hugely increases the walking comfort. Large toe box. Ratchet system feels solid.

Only have one ride so far, but the shoe was comfortable right out of the box. Needed a little tightening as the ride went on, but that is to be expected. They aren't very lightweight, but with the ratchet and offset straps, they are easy to customize. True to size.
