I decided to bump my tire size up to a 2.0" on my 26" touring bike, with rail-trails in mind.
I'm back from my first outing - 120 miles - and I'm impressed. These tires are certainly heavy but the ride was very smooth (inflated to 40#). I did a couple of off roads and the traction seemed good. They really floated over loose/ sandy sections nicely.
I'm impressed so far.
Before this, my favorite were Conti Top Tours 26x 1.75 but for off road touring, these seem great.

I got these almost exactly a year ago for an e-bike with a rear hub 350 watt motor and a 10 lb battery on a rear rack mount. I have ridden it approximately 2,000 miles, mostly to and from work, and the route includes bad roads, full of potholes and often broken glass and construction debris. I often have to cross gravel paths and trails, and these tires have handled everything very well. They are able to grip in gravel, even when it is a little deep and steep, and they are actually pretty fast on asphalt. They also handle wet and even icy conditions pretty well.
The reason I got these was that I'd had Schwalbe Big Apple tires on this bike for their cushioning effect, and they were great at that and they were surprisingly fast. But they often got flats due to the construction debris and etc. in the city. So these new tires have done remarkably well for what I need.

I put these on to replace Schwalbe Big Apple tires, which were fast and which cushioned a lot of bumps, however, I had a few flat tires after two-thousand miles. I have a heavy e-bike with a rear hub motor and a heavy battery. These Marathon GT Tour tires have been fast and very tough. They can handle gravel trails (medium gravel) pretty well. They are fairly fast on pavement. They can handle grass and mud, too. I have also taken them through rain, ice and snow. After roughly two-thousand miles (mostly commuting into a heavily trafficked and badly repaired road system with thousands of potholes), they are still doing very well. I stopped carrying a patch kit because I no longer felt they were necessary (knock wood).
When winter comes, I plan to swap these out and use the 365 day version of the same tire, which has better grip in wet and icy conditions.

I bought this set for my second bike. My first set are on my Trek 520. I have over 4,000 miles with no punctures and they are showing very little wear. I weigh 215 so they are holding up extremely well. I expect to get well over 10,000 miles before needing to be replaced. They grip very well on all pavement wet or dry. My only complaint is that they are not the lightest fastest tire but they are excellent for touring.

Love these tires ! This is my second set of Schwalbe tires and I am a fan. These GT tours roll like a dream , hook up well , and my bike just rides so much better. Too early for me to comment on tire life.
