Same tool my LBS uses. Having one at home allows me to periodically check the chain stretch without having to take the bike to the shop. The 1-10 scale allows you to know when you are approaching the useful life of the chain rather than waiting for a go/no go gauge to tell you it is completely finished allowing you to plan ahead and have parts on hand but without having to stockpile parts in long anticipation.

Easy and quick to use with very little room for error. A simple chain checker that gives more info than a simple go/no go gauge. With this checker you how close to needing replacement your chain is which allows for planning ahead.

After every ride I put the bike up on the stand to do some basic things like check the tires and wipe the chain clean and lube it if necessary. At least once per week per bike I'll also check the chain with the ProGold Chain Gauge just to help keep track of any chain wear. With 4 different bikes that I ride it is nice to have a tool that makes it easy to keep track of the chain wear. Since it is so easy to check the chain with this tool I don't have to try and remember the status of each chain on the different bikes.

ProGold Chain Gauge is made of high quality material and gives a precise assessment of the chain stretch. Works perfectly. I definitely prefer it to the binary based checking tools. I definitely recommend ProGold Chain Gauge and give it the highest ranking.

I like this better than the Park chain gauge because nothing moves and it spans more links for greater accuracy.
