My wife got these tires for me this Christmas for my 1986 cannondale road bike with Shimano wheel set. Trying to find quality 27 tires is getting more and more difficult but these tires exceed the original and replacement Michelins I just replaced. The bead fit was very tight (good thing) and the 105 pressure rating on the side wall is accurate. I took a 15 mile ride on 110psi (I like speed over comfort) and the ride was still amazingly comfortable. Knowing that 27 tires are a dying breed, my wife got me 2 extra for future use. I am so glad she did.
Also the gumwall sidewall gives my cannondale the classic look it so well deserves and came with.
Now if only I can find 27 wheels that are of good build quality instead of the K-Mart quality 27 wheels that only seem to be left to buy.

after reading your reviews, I bought the tires from a bike shop in san pedro (support local business) in CA on a special order. Normally I buy from you or Rivendell, like my Schwalbe tires for my touring bicycles, because they are bullet proof. I put the Panaracer Pasela 27 18 tires my recently restored 80's Nishjkj custom sport. My tires came in blackwalls which I wanted in brackwalls like your picture. However, I rode the bicycle for an hour on sunday and they lived up to your reviews. I rememeber Rivendell Bicycle use to carry those tires Yes, I would buy those tires again. Does the tire still come in brownwalls? This bike is the only one with 27 inch wheels, the others are 700-25 thru 700-40.
You have the lowest prices for your tires.

I've put 600 miles on this set so far. I've ridden on country and city roads, highways, bike lanes, on and off ramps with no flats. The ride quality is far superior to the Kendas that were on my old Schwinn World Sport. Right now I am using the 1 14 version, but look forward to trying the 1.

I bought the 1 version and my bike is a whole new riding experience. Rolling resistance is extremely low at the maximum pressure of 115 lbs. and after 850 miles in just under 3 months, the front tire is showing no wear at all, and I am seeing only marginal wear on the rear. My greatest concern about these tires is that the manufacturer will stop making them as the market for 27 tires slows to a trickle. It could be just dumb luck, but I have had no flats since installing these tires. I usually pick up glass and go flat every 2-3 weeks.

The 27x1 is perfect for slimming down a bike with old straight-edge 27s. Its a 25.5mm tire that fits nicely on Araya rims marked 1 14 used on old Schwinns, etc.
Handles rough post-apocalypse Philly roads just fine. I might not start out with this tire, but everyone that's already comfortable on an older bike with 27s should buy a set.

This tire 27x1 has convinced me I don't need to upgrade ? to 700c wheels & tires after all. They are lightweight, good riding, good running tires. They absolutely blow away the Conti Ultra Sports 27x1 18" I've been using in ride and rolling resistance. Climbing & acceleration are in another league also due to the significantly lighter weight. The 27x1 size seems a perfect fit on my 27x1 14 Araya aluminum rims. The Pacelas mounted easily, are quite round and uniform SMOOOOOTH at higher speeds.

Absolutely the best tire for the money out there, period.
Like the other reviewers have said, it rides like a far more expensive tire. If you've only experienced cheap tires before, you will be amazed at the difference that a nice tire can make.
With the supply of 27" tires dwindling, this is the best option out there. It's the narrowest I've seen at 1" - which is just about the perfect all around width for touring even on dirt roads, commuting and training. It is also very resistant to flats. I've been through glass without any trouble - only a thick staple-gun style staple has punctured them so far.
I haven't tried the Pasela TG model yet, but I think these tires are great without the weight and cost of the aramid layer.

This tire rides like a tire three times the cost. I am astonished. I have one in 1-18 inch and one in 1-14 inch. Now my heavy commuter bike rides like a fancy, expensive bike. I can't say enough good things about this tire.

affordable, extremely light for its size and wire bead, last way longer for its weight, rolls great, run them at 90 psi rear and 70 front and you will be shocked.
Get a light tube, even better, put a latex in, it will work, and you will fly, maybe like a Pro Mich. with twice the ride quality.

These are installed on a '70's Raleigh Grand Prix. This is an all original vintage bike with an odometer attached to the front hub, a '70's Brooks Saddle, front reflector and that's how I found it in the neighbor's curb-side trash one rainy night. These gumwall tires fit in with that era of bike. And they go on very easily and ride extremely well.

The tire fit and looks good on my 1975 Raleigh.

The Pasela is my go-to tire for use on vintage road bikes. With a supple tread and sidewall the ride is very smooth and fast while still having huge grip on all surfaces unlike the typical replacement tires with the raised 14 wide center rib. I have used these tires for comfortable century rides and by lowering the air pressure I have used these in shallow mud and sand covered trails. On one memorable trek I was with another cyclist who was riding an expensive mountian bike. As we started up one steep, washed out road, the mountian biker hopped off to walk while I was able to power to the top on my touring bike using these tires and my rat trap toe clips!!!
If you like your vintage machine you will love it with Pasela's!

I put 27 x 1 14's on my mid-1980's Peugoet and really like them. They are comfortable and the rolling resistance seems pretty low. I ride Vittorio Pro's on my good road bike, and, for how I use the Peugeot, I like these just as well. I have about 200 miles on the tires so far and highly recommend them.

I bought the 27 14 Pasela tires for my vintage 10-speed. They fit the straight sided rims perfectly, with the 95 PSI rating they ridehande well and look good too. I have about 100 miles on these and have been through glass and rocks without problem. I bought these made in Japan tires, in part, based on other reviews of fit and highly recommend them myself. Enjoy your vintage bike!
