Although they are rather heavy they look great on my 1982 Trek. Great replacement tire when your old gumwalls start dry rotting

great tire for overall use, and the barge canal path is a true test for that. On canal path 3 times a week , 8 months a year, being honest I did have 1 flat, but i'm thrilled other wise. Stay away from slime patches. ps - My schwinn world sport turns 40 in 2013!!!

I have been extremely disappointed with these tires, i have seen massive increase in the amount of punctures received, i get puncture almost every time i go out, which takes all the enjoyment out of cycling.

These tires offer a nice ride quality at a good price. I've bought a lot of the World Tours for older 27 wheel bikes that I have fixed up for myself or friends. This is not a state of the art, high thread-count tire, but for the price, it suits well for a repair or restoration of an older bike. They even have that retro French look (though they are no longer made in France, alas!). Keep 'em pumped up to 75psi for good rolling and flat resistance. Do make sure you have good clearance, esp. at the chain stays, these are pretty fat, around 32-33mm.

maybe it will work better for you. i had such hi hopes but riding on the barge canal trail in monroe county new york state is the ultimate torture test for the commuter.the gravel in some spots is more like inlaid boulders! didn't have a flat for THREE whole weeks(almost a record) and then this huge bulge on tread. wonder it didn't blow. shame on michelin man!

Ive had these tires on my bike for 2 weeks now and have had 5 flats...and Ive only been doing city riding thus far. Can't wait until I hit a couple trails. No thanks. Ive never had such unreliable tires in my life, but for 17 bucks what can I expect. These are going in the trash when my new Schwable Marathons come in. Hopefully Ill have better luck with those.

Got 1500 miles in two years on city streets with no flats. After that, three flats in 300 miles - mostly sharp grains of sand. Obviously they have reached the end of their useful life. Smooth, easy rolling and good handling on city streets under most conditions. Not sure if I will order the same for replacement or try something else.

I ride in an area where I have to cover rough pavement, gravel, sand washes, dirt and grass. This tire always has a confident feel even on hillsides. It is a very smooth riding tire and you don't feel like your pulling a trailer. I weigh 240 lbs. and 1000 miles on the rear with still a usable tire is the norm. It's also available in 700C and I am using it on a tandem as well.

I would just like to follow up on a reveiw I wrote in Feburary 2010. These tires are still rolling after being mounted in Janurary 2010. Have had only one flat in four years. The sidewalls are starting to show some weathering. But still rolling with some tread left. I have a couple of sets of 27 inch tires laying around. But I am sure tempted to get another set of these.
One night I was riding home and what appears to be a whole box of nails were on the bike lane. I couldn't go to the left into traffic or right into a six inch curb. So I just ran over them. I was about two miles from home. Just hoping to get home to fix or replace a tire in the morning. No flats!I have been riding through a construction zone back and forth from work for two years. The tread is good in sand, grass, gravel and anything else the commute has throw at me.
The tan sidewalls look really cool on my 1974 Schwinn Le Tour which is red. The bar tape is a mustard brown so it really sets it off. I found a set of Schwinn wheels on ebay and are waiting for them to come in the mail. Might have to clean them up real spiffy and put a new set of Michelins on them!
I feel that taking one of the major agrrevations of bike commuting flats has contributed to me keeping my automobile usage down to an average of 1500 miles a year.
They look cool and work great and how can you beat that.

27 x 14, how is that possible?

I like the look of this tire as well as the ride great for commuting in and around city,
would of been nice if it said " made in France" to go along with the components found on Vintage bicycles of the 1970s . I think it's a good value for the 27s

Been eyeing these since they came on the site. Wanted something that looks retro and also performs. So far these have fit the bill well. I use my five bicycles to commute mostly. I seem to keep going back to an old 70's ten speed that is 36 years old. It has the flat sided rims that will only take about 75 psi. Anything above that they will blow off the rims.
My job sends me within a ten mile radius of mostly city type riding. I usually go in daylight and home after dark. I run over things that I do not even see. Even with a good light. So far these have handled that task. They roll well even though they are heavy. Weight is not an issue for me. For anyone who cares these are made in Thailand not France.
Mounting the tires take a little time and effort. They fit snugly and should be aligned carefully when mounting. Went to a 700-2532 tube as it fits into the tires better than a 27 inch tube. Watch for pinching when mounting. They are about a half inch taller than the 630-32s they replaced and changes your gear ratios. Notice the extra lean with the kickstand!
I am pleased with these tires and would suggest them to anyone wanting to dress up an old bike or commute.
