I bought 5 sets of these tires as I refurbish older model mountain and hybrid bikes. These are a pretty good all around tire for riding short or long distance in the city. The only downfall is that they tend to collect a lot of small rocks in the grooves if you go on a trail. I got mine on this site as a clearance item and at that price I would buy many more. They are now back up to about [$] or so last time I checked.

My 20-something daughter, a biking novice, was training on an old hardtail mountain bike for a community bike ride on a very hilly road course. She was struggling with the hills. I got her the Country Rocks and she mounted them (easy to mount - it was her first experience changing tires) and started flying up the hills. If you want to convert from singletrack to pavement, get these tires. And at this price, they're worth having on hand for your mountain bike for when a change-out makes sense.

I mostly ride on street with an occasional trip on a trail. I replaced my Specialized Enduro 26x2.20 aggressive off road tires with a set of theses. Visually it was a bit shocking shaving off nearly a half inch of width....I'll get used to it. (Already have) .
My first ride with these tires was in the rain. Excellent grip on wet asphalt, cornered with confidence. So smooth and silent, fast rolling compared to my knobbies, it was like riding a new bike.
Haven't ridden any trails yet... I'll review the off-road capabilities at a later date. But for MTB/street, I HIGHLY Recomend these tires.

took my old fattie mountain bike tires off and put the country rocks on my old hardtail a few days ago to upgrade it to a city bike. Wow, what a difference, the tires roll fast considering they are 1.75's, handle quite nicely, and have more than enough tread not to get squirrelly. Highly recommend these if you looking for a cheap upgrade for your existing bike. Very fast in town rider, light trail use.

I wanted to put in more miles on the road than off, but still wanted some traction, just in case. These were the right fit for what I needed and were an excellent choice, especially for the price.

These tires were just what I wanted to commute to work on my mountain bike. They roll fast and provide good traction in wet conditions. Though not ideal, they would still work fine on trail, especially if its nice packed single track and not too technical. When I go mountain biking for real, which is somewhat rare for me these days, I plan on just changing back to more aggressive off road tread.

Great tire. Mostly use on street on my mountain bike. Picked up about 2 mph compared to knobby's. Did some downhill trails on packed an loose gravel, they handled well.
I would highly recommend,

Bought these to replace an original set on my Hardrock. Most of my riding is pavement commuting and trails so no need for traction. Not great on wet pavement but rolling resistance is superb for the type of tire they are intended to be. Seem to have a durable contact patch and with an armored liner you can kiss punctures goodbye. Makes my commute very enjoyable.

Works well on the road with my drop bar mountain bike and almost as fast as a slick tire. In the desert with loose gravel it is okay and hard packed riding is good. Would not be the tire I would use for aggressive trail riding or odd and changing conditions around Mt. Adams.

I use this tire on an older Trek 820 MTB bike. These tires were 2 MPH faster than the knobbies I was using. I was pleasantly surprised by their solid off road performance. I ride a lot of rails to trails and dirt roads. Good traction on steeper dirt slopes both going up and down. This tire won't stick as well as a knobby on dirt. Tire is quiet on pavement and very fast. I highly recommend this tire.

Good tire so far. Only 60 miles on them so far. Rides great but jury still out on puncture resistance

Bought a set of these last summer for my wife's MTB because she rides mostly on paved trails. Liked the looks of them and she said they rode better than her original knobbies. Fast forward Last week the Daily Special was these tires. I immediately ordered a pair for my hard-tail MTB that I ride for fitness, short hops, etc. Got them mounted and the first ride was an eye-opener. They are very smooth and fast on pavement. Can ride at least one gear higher consistently, with less effort. (so much for fitness!) Now if they are as durable as my Contis, I will be happy.

For how inexpensive these tires were I didn't expect the level of performance. They are amazing tires. They roll very fast and they have a nice thick carcass for a smooth ride. Very responsive, overall great tire. Would highly recommend.

I bought these to replace the knobby tires on my wife's mountain bike since most of its use is on roads. These tires were easy to mount and work great. Without the knobbies, you are able to go faster and there is less tire noise. Great price on sale.

I bought a pair of these to put on my vintage folding 2626 Dahon mountain bike. So far, the grip and tread have been terrific running around town in wet weather, leavs on the ground, etc. Have also taken it on some grassy areas and dirt trails, and they behaved really well there as well, but I'm not a mountain biker and so won't try anything more intense that that. I was on a budget, and these were a terrific deal, especially as I caught a good sale price. Been running them at 65-70psi, imagine they'll serve well in moderately icy or snowy weather at lower pressures. Definitely a whole lot better for me and my uses than the knobbies I was running, and I didn't want slicks because I do occasionally do a short jaunt in dirt or muddy trails.

We converted two mid-1990s mountain bikes to around-town utility bikes, and were looking for a good tire for paved road use and occasional use on gravel roads. This was the best combination of price and quality we found, and the tires are excellent for both wear and ride quality. They have an orientation, so be sure to mount them with the discharge of the tread facing backwards to shed water - an arrow showing direction of rotation is on the sidewall of the tire. These tires were recently on sale at biketiresdirect.com and I almost bought an extra two pair, but decided that they are likely to last for several years before they need replacing.

I commute to the train with my bike every day... It's just a couple of miles. These tires replaced my knobby dirt tires on my Trek Mountain track 830. The michelins ride smooth and quiet. They seem to roll better than the knobby tire that were already on my bike. I have used them on hard pack trails at the forest preserve near my house. They performed very well... If you are looking for a good street tire that is trusty enough for the hard packed forest preserve bike path.... Look no further these are reasonably priced and perform well.
