I'm just a Maxxis fan anyway
But this tire does replace the Ardent

So far so good Running DHF in front and Rekon in rear. Ive run the ardent, ardent race, ikon and cross mark in rear and like this the best. Good traction & braking and fast rolling. 4 stars due to low profile tread which is going to wear out quickly! Wish the knob height was higher like the 27.5 version!

Ditched a Minion 2.5 for a much lighter Rekon 2.4. Same grip but faster.

For a soft compound tire it lasted longer than I thought it would.

Love this tire on the rear in rugged XC terrain. Also great front tire that rolls almost as well as an Ikon but much more grip.

I mounted these on my Cannondale Scalpel and have put them through the ringer. Great tires for XC.

2.4 on the front. Good grip in the corners.

Fast rolling, light but hardy enough to hold up on rocky terrain here in Northern Colorado

Gives a a lot of control and traction on rough and roots trails

Review is for the 29x2.25 size mounted as a rear tire on an alloy hard tail. Actual weight matches mfg weight at 719g (surprising for a Maxxis tire). Measured 2.3in when installed on a 27mm ID rim inflated to 30psi (also surprising). I've run this tire on wet and semi-dry hard pack. It will predictably loose traction in both wet and dry so be ready to stick a foot out. The 2.25 version has smaller knobs than 2.4WT version and as a result, does not grip as well but its lighter and at 120TPI, more supple. Would recommend if looking for a less aggressive faster rolling rear tire for XC racing. Go with the 2.4WT if you want a great trail tire.

Love Maxxis tires. Used to run the Ikon but this is a better all around tire for my riding conditions. Has better cornering than the Ikons

Great rolling tire works well with xc style riding and has good enough puncture protection to ride Rocky Mountain terrian.

Nice tire choice for riders who are looking for a fast rolling, light weight tire that still stays in control while cornering. Has been a great summer tire for me on my Ibis Ripley.
