As I get older and my strength wanes, l'm gradually trimming weight and improving performance of my 2012 S-Works Epic FSR carbon frame. I have it down to 23.5 pounds including flat pedals. Monkeying with these original Crossmax SLR wheels is a no-no, however, because they are light, stiff and strong, and a pleasure to ride. I did have to replace a worn freehub and it was a bit tricky to find, but the parts are out there. Yes, the 26ers are a bit trickier on rough terrain than bigger wheels, but better riding and handling skills can help overcome that. And besides, the retro look and technology display are over the top. What other wheels have thin layers of aluminum shaved from the rims between the spokes to save mere grams? Flashy aero spokes? Red hubs with butter bearings? These wheel get some startled looks at first, but big smiles when folks pick up the bike.

I purchased these wheels for my 1999 Cannondale Super V Raven 2000 Freeride that I was lucky enough to purchase a few months ago as the bike is near mint, as soon as I got the email that these wheels were available I went directly to the Bike Tires Direct website and ordered a set and it's a good thing I did as they sold out pretty quick. As I unboxed my wheels I was very surprised to see a pair of nice Mavic wheel storage bags included with the wheels, the wheels are gorgeous and really light and look very well made, and the best of all they will look awesome on my Raven 2000 Freeride as the bike is gloss carbon with red and yellow graphics, now I'm just trying to decide what tubeless tires i'm going to go with, I'm down to two choices and will be ordering them soon.

I'm glad I ordered these as soon as I seen the email for the product, they seem to be sold out at the moment, this set of wheels are crazy light and the craftsmanship is top notch, over exceeds my expectations, surprisingly the wheels came with two nice Mavic wheel storage bags as an added bonus, also included are the tubeless valve stems so no need to go and buy some, also there are a bunch of other goodies in the parts bag which I have not opened as of yet such as a Mavic decal sheet, these are going to look great on my mint condition 1999 Cannondale Super V Raven 2000 Freeride!

Can't believe I found these new but glad I did! Super light and stiff!! Put them on my old GT Zaskar and they look!

OK, these are not the lightest XC wheels out there but they are some of the best handling. It's hard to find a light set of 29er wheels that are not flexy. Some of the carbon ones are nice and stiff but the $1500 - $2500 price is a bit of a stretch for the average XC rider or racer who isn't sponsored and is paying for their own gear. The Crossmax SLRs strike a good balance of light enough weight and excellent stiffness which give you a solid package for the more technical trails where you need great steering accuracy. They also look great on the bike!

The order went smoothly, and delivery was also quick. I am still getting things set up, but this wheelset was a good find at a good price.
