I originally had a wheel-on smart trainer, but I was going through a tire every 300 miles. I tried multiple brands of trainer specific tires, but at $30-35 each, it wasn't worth the money I saved by buying the wheel-on trainer. I was also putting out watts that almost made me a professional rider, but I am just a casual rider. Then I bought the Elite Direto II and it brought me back to earth, this trainer gives a true workout feel. My watts and speeds were far more consistent with what I see while riding on the road. The ride is far more smooth and much quieter. Set up was extremely easy, just install a cassette and put your bike on the trainer. The Direto II hooked up to Zwift via Bluetooth easily and I was riding in no time. If you're on the fence of wheel-on vs direct drive, this trainer is worth the extra money.

I havent used the trainer a ton yet because the weather is nice. But Im excited to use it in winter. It set up very easily and immediately synced with Garmin edge, and the etrainer app. Its quieter than my cycleops fluid2 I used this last winter, which is a win with a sleeping child in the house. Id recommend to anyone.

Both my wife and I have been using this for about 2 months now for Zwift rides. It's seen a lot of action and does what it is supposed to do well. The initial set-up was slightly confusing, but since then it has been fool-proof.
