I live in Florida i have a full suspension bike I ride on sidewalks, under highway over passes, over bridges, and i make a point to stay off the roads as much as possible because a lot of the people driving hear are elderly and cant see the steering wheel of their car, so i can't expect them to see me. Some sidewalks are quite challenging especially if you are in a hurry to get somewhere. I usually ride about 15 miles one way so a trip is 30 miles. Sometimes the sidewalks drop 3 feet down to an intersecting road (that's a three foot drop in two foot of forward travel)
Then on the other side it goes back up just as fast. That is why i use mountain bike wheels on a full suspension bike with flat resistant tires. I am very happy with the Eastons i dropped about 5 pounds off of my bike just changing the wheels.
And i can ride confidently knowing that my wheels won't let me down on the side walk or in traffic.
