I have previously used Michelin Pro 4 & Gatorskins and these GP 5000 blow them out of the water. I ride typically rough country roads with some road debris and gravel. My other tires used I would end up with small cuts after a few rides that would eventually lead to flats. These GP 5000 have provided an extremely tough exterior while producing a supple ride. They corner well and hold their speed. I have them mounted on a Canyon Aeroad with Reynolds Strike Carbon Wheels.

I have been using the Continental Grand Prix 4000 for the past eight years. One of my favorite rides is the Tour of the California Alps (aka Death Ride), a ride in the Sierra Nevada mountains, over five mountain peaks at elevation for 129 miles. The GP 4000 has had excellent traction, and at high descent speeds holds the road well. Importantly, I have gotten fewer flats than I was with prior tires. Now, Continental has come out with the Grand Prix 5000the next generation. Taking their rubber grip technology they call black chili to the next level, so far my experience with the GP 5000 is at least as good as my years of experience with their previous generation. While I dont have the long term experience, my first 200 miles have been without incident and with great traction.

Been riding on this tire since it first came out. Great tire, comfort, durability, and just plain all-good !
Try them...Go Continental.

I have no complaints about the tires. I think the new version of GP5000 is very easy to install, and the durability is also very good. I can ride through the potholes on the road with confidence.

I ride several thousand miles a year and this tires has been very reliable. I tend to get more flats, and even side wall punctures when using other tires, so this is the only tire I will use now.

The Continental Grand Prix 5000 is an excellent road tire.
Comfortable, smooth ride, light weight, wears well.
I am on my second pair, from last year, and I ride a lot. Best tire.
I don't think you can go wrong with this leader in the clincher category !
Buy them !!

Good tire. A little better than the 4000. Handles good and seems to roll easier. Only complaint, they seem to cut easier than the 4000. Mileage seems about the same. 2 rear tires to 1 front. On my second set.

After experiencing poor durablity performance with the prior GP 4000 tire (lots of cuts and too many punctures) I started leaving my GP Four Seasons on all year. I have recently tried the new GP 5000s and so far they are a significant improvement. Rolling resistance and speed are obviously better over the Four Seasons, but durability also seems to be improved. After a couple hundred miles, no cuts or punctures. Cornering grip is stellar and stepping up to the 25mm has improved overall ride comfort. They measure 26.3 at 105 PSI, which just barely fits in my narrow Ridley Noah ISP frame, but the ride quality over 23mm versions of the GP 4000 and Four Seasons is apparent.

There is nothing negative to say. This tire rolls effortlessly fast. Wears well and is very stable. I would absolutely purchase again.

I find two things annoying about these tires compared to the older GP4000s. First, there isn't much rubber there to start with, which helps explain the low rolling resistance. But I wonder how long they will last. Second, the tires are narrower than the older GP4000s. This is to compensate for the wider rims in use today. But I liked the width of the GP4000 700x25s. The new GP5000 700x25s are too narrow, but the 700x28s are two wide.

Got this when it was on sale, otherwise I would rate it 4 stars because they are a pricey tire, but you get what you pay for and this is all around a great tire.

I switched to the Grand Prix 5000 tires when Conti stopped making the 4000 tire. I ride 25mm width.
LIFE OF THE TIRE I'm a large cyclist (6'5 & 210lbs), so, I tend to wear out rear tires a lot faster than front tires. I've lost track of how many miles I have on the front tire, probably in excess of 5,000. It still has plenty of wear left on it. The rear tire, as you might expect, is much newer. I'm happy to get 2,000 miles from the rear tire. Again, my size and the occasional road hazard, contributes to its short life.
PERFORMANCE & HANDLING Comfort, even at 100-110psi, is excellent. I don't bomb descents or fly through tire corners like I used to (I'm 50 w a wife and kids), but, on those occasions when I do push the limits of these tires, I am not disappointed. Grip is excellent, even in wet conditions.
PRICE Expensive. I gave 4 stars as I usually wait for BTD to have a sale (usually in the sub$$$ range) and then I buy 3 or 4. Or, use BTD's price match. Are they a steal at $40? Maybe.

I ride about 40 to 50 miles per week, I'm clearly not a hardened workout enthusiast but then I'm 65. I have ridden on multiple tire brands for over 45 plus years of riding and I have to say I'm very, very impressed with these Continental Grand Prix 5000 Road Tires. I have not had a flat yet and I have been riding on them for 18 months through rough roads, dry and wet conditions and they have performed superbly. I would highly recommend this tire!

Best price found online. Shipping was quick. Figment was a bit tricky, but once in place the tan walls made my bike look nice and roll a bit faster. Steel is real.

Replaced my old tires in October with $130 with i of conti. It's March now, and after 6 flats the 7th destroyed my front tire and the rear tire picked up the 7th (2nd in one week!) on my way home from work. Maybe these are good on like a track or something but Philadelphia streets just mashed then up. Staying away from continental from now on.

After years of riding Conti 4000's with infrequent flats, I was excited to upgrade to the 5000's. But after less than 200 miles on the 5000, what started as a small sidewall puncture turned into a 3" long tear in the sidewall, separating the bead from the sidewall and making the tire unrideable, even with a section of old tire placed beneath it. Resulted in a very long walk to a nearby bike shop. Happened on a pretty clean country road, probably caused by a goathead, with the puncture hissing slightly for several revolutions before failing catastrophically before I could come to a stop. A failure like this should never happen with a top of the line $60 tire. Very disappointed.

Just mounted them up on my bike. Been riding the 4000 series for the last two years. The firs thing I noticed is the tire, 28mm version, is skinnier than the previous versions sidewall size. With a calipers, I've measure the 4000 series 28-622 tires at 32mm, and the newer 5000 series is indeed what the sidewall says, 28mm. Time will tell if I get the same mileage, great wear, by the way, as what I used to get, and performance. Stay tuned for updatews!

I have ridden these as well as many other road tires. These are unequivocally the best. I use the 25 c size and have found they are are durable and give a solid ride. The wear indicators I also appreciate.
