I was riding US 87 shoulder out of Phoenix about a week ago - a rear flat from a wire that appeared to come from a shreaded truck tire burrowed through the rear tire. Never happened with 3x generations of Gatorskins I used on the bike. I like the feel of this tire, but not up to the same proofness as the Gatorskin cousin. I'd expect a large industrial staple, tack, or nail to get through any tire, but not a wire.

I had two blowouts with these tires! I used the previous version and they were great! Both tires blew out on a seam on the side of both tire,s just ripped after about 300 miles. Wheels are carbon Bontragger XXX lite and I have never had a problem with these wheels. I am not a heavy rider 131 lbs. I have gone back to the Michelin Prorace 4. I returned the tires to BikeTiresDirect and they have been great. They stated they would talk and show the tires to Conti. BUY WITH CAUTION! ps they were both black tires with green strips

I use these tires on my Tri Bike for my last 70.3 with no trepidation. I'm glad I chose these tires with the color that matches my bike feeling confident that I not only was fit and ready for the event but also looked good doing it. Now they will be my training tires until they wear out and then order more for my next event.

This is the fastest, smoothest rolling, least flatting, most durable racing tire I've ever used, and I've been training and racing for 35 years. I've been using them for years. I try others from time to time and am always disappointed compared to these. I always come back. They've become a no-brainer. And BTD sale price is a relative steal given the value.

Great tires. Fast and reliable. Not a single puncture in six months. They last 4k miles rear and 3x front.

This is a excellent traction tire and wears well. It was a little difficult to mount on the rim.

Love these tires. They are fast and puncture resistant enough for every day use. Prefer these to the 5000s for training.

Excellent tires

This is the second 4000 I have purchased for the rear of my Trek Madone 4.7. The first tire gave me 1,700 miles of service and no flats. The second purchase wore out at 1,000 miles and I had two flats with the tire. I like the performance and handling of the tire and that is why I bought the second one. I have since replaced the 4000 with a 5000 hoping for better mileage and puncture resistance from the 5000.

Replace an older set of tires with these I notice an improvement in the ride and handling overall a very nice tire. I purchased another set of these tires for my other road bike and will be installing this winter for the riding season next spring.

Great dependable road tire. Holds up to all the schrapnel debris while road riding. Get several sets before they're discontinued and replaced by the Continental 5000's.
Hey, when will biketiresdirect finally give me 50 bucks for all the outstanding reviews I give their products? It's a two-way street here, guys.

I like this tire because it is light and the price is right. Usually when I ride alone in the winter time I use Gatorskins. During the spring and summer when my schedule lines up better for group rides I kinda like the extra performance. It is probably not a whole lot but it makes me feel better ) and this is the tire I go with. It seems wrong to put a heavy Gatorskin on a really nice carbon clincher.

I have been riding these tires for years, with absolutely no issues - not even a flat. However, recently installed a new set on Zipp carbons just 200 miles ago and had a bead failure (bead material snapped completely, punctured 3 tubes before pinpointing the issue). These are excellent when they work - hopefully this is an anomaly. These are amazing value at the current pricing as they are being replaced with the 5000s.

Been riding Conti GP4000's for over 10 years without issue. Just put a new one on in June and had about 34 of sidewall separate from the bead after 400 miles. Riding on a paved trail, no debris hits, no warning...just went bad.

Went from 32mm to these 28s. Noticed increase acceleration immediately

I've been riding on the same set of these tires for two seasons and they're still in good shape. They're light and have less rolling resistance than my previous tires. That means I can go faster downhills as well as climb better than before. However, you initially have to give up a bit of comfort until you get used to them. And I haven't had any flats with them so far. But that's probably more luck than anything else.

I use this on my commute in mostly dry and warm conditions. About 14 miles a day and no flats so far after about 150 miles. So far so good! )

This is my 4th set of GP4000s, and Ive only replaced previous sets due to mileage - typically 2.5-3k. BikeTiresDirect is awesome, and I have always appreciated their loyalty program. Thanks.

Ive gone through 2 tires, front and back do to small cuts that exposed the tube within the last month and a half. Had my share of flats as well. Too many to count. They just dont work for me. They roll great and are comfortable but just arent strong against flats and cuts.
