Second set of Gatorskin tires.....very solid tires, fewer flats than previous tires over fairly rough roads in the Midwest

They are a bear to get onto Fulcrum rims the first two or three times. After that, not too bad. Hoping to get a lot of miles out of these.

What else do you need to know? You put them on and ride 2500 miles on them then buy another set. Simple!

This is my tire of choice and I usually get 4-5K on these tires (in the East). I road my bike cross country this summer with the gatorshins and the chip seal that they uee on the roads in the West wore my rear gatorskin down to the threads at about 1800 miles.
There were about 40 riders on the trip and I can tell you that I did not see any tire that did much better. In fact when a rider's tire wore out - they put on a gatorskin as the replacement tire.
I now have about 5K on the front tire (a gatorskin) and about 3K on new rear tire that replacement. As I am back in the East where the roads are smoother - these tires should hold up.

These tires go one easy, hold the road and wear well.

The tires I replaced came with the trek madone, bontrager's r-2. They are pure junk and replacing them with the gatorskins proved how great a tire they are. The ride has improved tremendously in both inspiring confidence and comfort. I had the skins on an older bike I sold and missed their performance so on they went and I enjoy riding much more because of them.

I use these tires for my commuting bike. I don't try to ride through glass and the like, but I still do it several times a week. Before I started using the gator hardshell and then the gatorskins I got really good at changing my tubes, now I'm very much out of practice and loving it!
PS I found putting the gatorskins on to be quick and easy.

I wanted a tire that would hold up to the abuse of training on sub-standard pavement with the occasional dirt/gravel road detour and the Gatorskin trumps all others. Found myself getting a little too cocky and they performed flawlessly. I purxhased the 25c size and was able run a little bit lower tire pressure for a more supple ride. Win-win for me. Great value for a quality product. Highly recommend. Thanks.

I train on the 25cc wire bead Gatorskin tire for a few years now. In combination with a set of Mr Tuffy's, these things are virtually bullet proof. I have consistently been getting over 5,000 miles per set. I do rotate the tires at least three times, I leave the back tire in place after the third rotation, cuz it don't make since to put that square of a tire on the front. I'll run that thing past seeing the tire threads -). Buy a new set and use the front tire as a backupspare... or give it to a fellow cyclists that is on a tight budget. In fact I got my first flat in two years last Saturday by one big-ass staple, like on a shipping crate. I could hear it clicking on my rear brake caliper, but I couldn't get stopped fast enough before it went through the tuffy. Tire was with thread showing too -) Just put a new set on this morning and the last set I got 5,448 miles on, could have gotten to 6,000 miles for sure. I tell myself, once threads are showing next flat I install a new set. Stay safe out there boys and girls, keep the shiny side up, and the rubber side down! Peace.

These tires came mounted on our tandem bicycle. After 100 of miles of use the rear started to wear down. During that time we only ever had one flat from a piece of tire wire that I doubt any tire could have prevented. After the great use we got out of the first one there was no other choice to be made when it came tome for a replacement. Liked them so much that I put them on my commuter bike when it was time to get new rubber. Solid tire, solid value.

Second time reveiwing these. I have ended up with a few flats here and there. It seems nothing can compete with the tack weeks we have here. but it seems that the combination of these and liners works pretty well.

I mostly use this tire for commuting purposes. I recently put on a new set after using the others for 6-7,000 miles. I finally replaced them just because I started getting glass embedded in the tread that was working its way through the puncture liner. I had a couple of flats due to this and just felt more comfortable replacing the tires. There was still a decent amount of tread left so I'm sure you could get more miles than I did if you ride on generally cleaner roads. These tires are tough. Not a great racing tire as you give up some suppleness for durability. However, they would work really well for training or if your race partially covers dirt road sections. They are also a little heavier than a good race tire, but again that is not really their purpose.
