Review by G Kollar
For a new bike build, I choose the same super-light saddle that I've used before based on weight and comfort. That saddle brand and style never gave me much concern when the ride distance was under 65 or so miles. Some soreness was usually felt but not too bad. This new bike was built for long-distance riding and the lightweight saddle was causing considerable discomfort at the 75 and up distances I was now riding. In researching a viable option, the Brooks looked to be the best option not tried before due to weight. After several weeks of riding the Brooks Swallow, the saddle has become something that I no longer think about - like it has disappeared all together! I've put seven 100 mile rides so far this summer on that saddle and wouldn't trade it for anything! The weight difference was only an additional 100g. While the Swallow didn't require much of a break-in for me, and I was skeptical about it eventually fitting me, I recommend anyone who is buying this saddle to stick with the break-in - It is really worth the wait. Looks great as well on my titanium bike. Also, use the Proofide sparingly, It doesn't take much.
