I have used this rack for years and over thousands of miles. These position the load low around the front axle to provide a very stable ride. Put your heavy stuff here. These racks are sturdy and well made and have never had a problem. The CL-1 is very hard to find. It's even harder to find forks with the mounting holes. The design is also very elegant. If you often carry panniers, buy stainless steel mounting bolts, because you'll never want to remove this rack.

The description of this rack states that it requires mid-fork eyelets. Though it does not say anything about having double brazed on eyelets. This rack requires that you put the screw completely through your fork and if you don't have the eyelets already in place, they suggest that you drill a hole through your fork!
I have not yet had any luck with blackburn racks, unfortunately.. I have tried three different racks from blackburn and though they look great and have an awesome geometry, none of them fit properly on my bike. (I ride a marin 4 corners just to give an idea of the style of bike)

I have toured with one of these racks on my touring bike for 20 years. Sturdy and solid. Well centered on the front axle. A true low rider in my opinion. I had to return it though since it needs to have the mid-fork eyelets that go all the way through the fork and mine only had an eyelet of the exterior surface. i can't tell you how sad that made me. Ended up with a different style with a well known brand that rides higher and more forward of the axle. I found it to be less stable.
