I bought this tire for my commuter fat bike as I ride to work every day, year 'round. Our bike trails are both groomed for mixed use and some of the bike trails are plowed. Due to our high altitude, sun there will be a little melting during the daytime and then that meltwater will freeze into black ice. The 45Nrth studded tire grips like there is no such thing as ice or hard pack snow! Rolling along the tires are surprisingly smooth, but a bit noisy due to the tread and the studs. But, pedestrians hear me coming along. I run the tires pretty soft on hardpacked snow at about 8psi and they absorb the bumps, ridges and rumbles just fine with my hardtail fat bike. Pricey, but if getting through the winter months is a priority, this is the tire to have!
