Reviews
If you're not going to make your own bars, these are probably the best alternative. Not too sweet, for me they were very digestible. The flavors taste natural, like real food. I really liked the sour cherry notes!
Got the lemon berry flavor. I find these a lot easier to eat than CLIF Bars, which often feel like youre eating a brick of dust. Taste is great.
Im not a competitive rider, so I cant say whether theyre more energy-packed or whatever than other bars.
But, the flavor and ease of consumption are two big reasons for me to buy these again as my go-to bar.
I bought the savory options in this product line in the hopes of having an alternative to the sweet-laden energy bars normally consumed on rides. What a disappointment. The Parmesan, Sun Dried Tomatoes, and Black Pepper bars taste like a combo of the stinky Parmesan cheese in those little packs that you get with your pizza, mixed with the sauce from a Tostino's pizza roll, and added to a regular sweet granola bar- Nasty. Nothing savory (or palatable) about these at all- I'll probably throw the remaining bars out.
The Ginger Miso is not much better, tasting like a sweet granola bar with soy sauce and a hint of ginger. Again, not savory. At least these are not completely repulsive tasting; I'll choke them down grudgingly and sparingly on rides just so I don't waste the nearly thirty bucks I spent on a box of twelve.
I took a chance buying a box of each based on other Skratch products I've tasted, but these were an expensive and total fail.
I didn't expect to like an "energy bar," but I figured Skratch could make a good one with real ingredients - and they did! I find myself craving these bars and use them as a reward for a workout well done, even if I've already eaten one while out for a long ride. I like these better than cookies!
Skratch lab bars are some of the more palatable energy bars I've tried. The flavors are good and the bar doesn't stick to the roof of you mouth. Seems to digest easily and does its job. I always have a couple with me on long rides.
have tried all kinds of bar type foods and find the skratch labs peanut and strawberry to be the best- not too dry, and goes down easy. not overly sweet, either. perfect nosh about an hour or so into a good long ride.
These bars are tasty, easy on the stomach, and provide a nice addition of sustained energy. They seem to have a slower burn than other bars, which makes them a nice fuel source. Equally palatable in hot and cold weather. A bit more expensive than the competition, which is the only negative. I find I need to be judicious with how frequently I eat them -- they are so tasty that I have to resist grabbing one for a pick-me-up snack.
