Reviews
I had little hope for these until today: the other fenders I tried failed. I opened the bag, and took out the front fender. It had a few simple diagrams showing how to strap its bracket to the down tube. Minutes later, bracket on, fender snapped to it, and I'm pretty sure it will block spray from the front tire. I got the rear fender. A few more parts, screws, and I'm thinking, "Here it comes." But again, a few simple diagrams, parts that matched the diagrams, who knew it was possible! I followed the sequence and a few minutes later, it was on, snugly, no cable ties, no mangling the fender to make it fit. The support attaches to the base of the seat tube (dropper post in my case) with a soft and tough strap that gets snugged up with a cam lever. The fender snaps to the support. I adjusted mine to hover 1 cm above the rear tire.
I took it for a short ride. The fenders are out of the way. They don't get in the way when I hang the bike on its hook, as with other bikes. They're both just quietly waiting for the next ride in a downpour. I rode in one 5 days ago, and everything got soaked. These will help,
A cool part of the design is that the rear fender can be removed by releasing the cam lever. The front fender can be removed by loosening its straps. If you're feeling lucky you can leave them off until it's going to rain. I'm leaving them on. I won't accidentally tear them off like I did previous fenders.
I recently added the Portland Design Works Origami Rear Fender to my hybrid/gravel bike and have been extremely satisfied with its performance. It's lightweight and straightforward to install and remove. The fender has been an excellent addition to my bike for rides during and after rainfall, keeping me free of dirt and mud. Overall, I highly recommend the Portland Design Works Origami Rear Fender to anyone looking for a convenient and effective solution for keeping yourself clean during wet conditions.
I have two of these, one lives on a bike overseas. I bought a second one, and it is even better, they changed the material on the strap that cinches the fender to the seat post, and it holds better than the original, and the company then replaced the strap for my old one. Excellent.
Once again, super amazing customer service from BikeTiresDirect. Not sure what I would do without these guys.
Always carry the right items. Thank you guys.
Fender fits very well, looks great. Easy to install, very firm once installed. Very light.
I didn't know what to expect, but I trusted the minds at Portland Design Works and am very satisfied. I've been using this and the corresponding front fender with great success on rides when it's just starting to sprinkle or has just finished raining. I thought the plastic would be cheap, but it's totally cool. Just make sure this one's on tight or it may move around. Overall great and does just what I need it to. Very easy to take off on the sunny days.
I wasn't sure if I would like this fender as I have had other seat post mounted fenders for mountain bikes before that tended to move around. This one is mounted on a gravel bike. So far it's been excellent. Easy to set up and mount and goes on and off the bike in a few seconds. The mount seems better than the ones I've used in the past and so far I've had no issues with it. The price was reasonable. This is a very light fender and it comes off quickly to stow in the webbing on my commuter pack.
This rear fender is very easy to set up and adjust, and offers excellent protection against rear wheel spray. The seatpost grippper stays firmly in place, so you don't have to deal with it sliding mid-ride and exposing you back end to water. The fender itself also detachesre-attaches to the mounting bracket, which makes the fender versatile for changing conditions like a wet ride to work and a dry ride home.
I bought one of these several years ago for my fixie/single speed urban commuter. Recently purchased another for my gravel bike. Light weight, portable, easy to put on and get off the bike and does what it's supposed to do. My experience is it is also very secure despite some comments I've seen in other reviews - just a matter of understanding the mechanics of the latch system. Would highly recommend based on price and functionality.
I like this fender. It attaches easily, and has adjustments for angle. But it always seems to come loose, and its off center, and I have to stop and tighten the strap.
Definitely need something like this for the front wheel.

Got this rear fender to match the Origami front fender on my CX bike that doesn't have fender mounts as I ride this bike in the wet off season and gravel rides so looking for something unobtrusive yet solid. Lightweight and solid but deducted a star as the strap that helps lock it to the seat tube tends to fall off when not in use as I take it off when carrying bike on a rack, etc.
I bought this fender to bring along on a week long tour. It easily snaps apart and back together. So, it's easy to pack in a bag. I used it a couple of times during the tour. It performed well, keeping my backside free from road spray.
I'm very happy with the protection this provides to my backside. Easy to take on and off and recommend not always leaving it on the bike. Very easy for a thief to remove.
Nearly perfect fender, it's light, effective, easy to change between bikes, and it can fold away for easy storage. Not very theft-proof, but it's survived 4 months of parking in downtown Washington DC.
I appreciate the ability to remove and store the flat, foldable portion of this fender in a back pocket (or anywhere else) without removing the clamping mechanism. It's a feature I wouldn't have thought I wanted but I've ended up putting it to use a lot. Smart stuff, PDW, as usual. I'm not sure about durability but if I haven't updated my review, it means there were no issues.
This was extremely easy to setup on my seatpost and is easy to move from one bike to the next. I used this on a very rainy commute and it kept my back and butt dry. Simple and effective solution that looks good.
