Most "sports drinks" are the same—lots of sugar, salt, and citric acid. Hammer Nutrition HEED 2.0 is your healthy, subtle-flavored alternative—complex carbohydrates, a balanced electrolyte profile, and essential nutrients balance blood sugar, buffer lactic acid, and ensure long-lasting energy. Xylitol and stevia are tooth-friendly sweeteners.
HEED is great for bouts of exercise up to 2-3 hours in duration and will cover most athletes caloric and at least partial electrolyte needs. Every scoop of HEED contains 110 calories and about the same amount of electrolytes as found in one Endurolytes capsule or approximately one-half tablet of Endurolytes Fizz.
Mix 1 scoop of HEED in 16– 26 oz (473–768 ml) of water, depending on temperatures. Sip continuously during exercise.
2.0 v. Classic
Classic HEED uses Corn Maltodextrin, a high-glycemic index (GI) complex carbohydrate, ideal for providing fast-acting, long-lasting energy during exercise and for replenishing the body's energy (glycogen) stores after exercise.
HEED 2.0 uses Tapioca Maltodextrin, a less processed, NON-GMO alternative with lower mono and disaccharide content with much higher percentage of polysaccharide content (courtesy of its lower Dextrose Equivalent), less sodium content, and even closer to the desired neutral pH.

Been using "during ride" drinks since the late '90's along with water. I tried a lot of them and Cytomax and Endurox were my favs for years. Maltodextrin (simple sugar: "energy") is the go to ingredient in everything, it's cheap, easy to produce, etc. But it's not good for you (stomach issues for some of us, "processed", etc. Been using Hammer Nutrition (gels, Recoverite, etc.) since late '90's and have always been happy. NOW finally they got rid of the processed corn syrup (causes inflammation) and replaced with tapioca. Got "Cherry Bomb" flavor with caffeine and LOVE it. Mild cherry flavor is good. If they got rid of the Xylitol it would be perfect. Thanks Hammer Nutrition.
Hydration while riding. I used it in the past then switched to some "newer" brands because it didn't easily disolve. I went back to it when I wanted to order more of the Hammer Gel in the larger container to fill my flask. Upon my return I realized how much the flavor tastes artificial and I won't reorder. On the plus side it now disolves well.
The only sports drink that actually makes a noticeable difference 30 minutes after you drink it. If you end up with a headache from working outdoors in the heat, chances are you are dehydrated and you drink this 30 minutes later your headache will be gone but dont wait to drink some till that happens. Great stuff, get you some!
