Reviews
Over the years I have tried other bar tapes when I think Cinelli is getting too expensive or not keeping up with the times. I have repeatedly been proven wrong. Cinelli Cork Tape is as much cushioning as I can expect. It is easy to apply, I never run out. I think their finish tape is a step above others, it is longer wider and has a texture to it.
I bought this bar tape to add some color to one of my old steel bikes I was modernizing with new stem, bars, and shifters. This tape was easy to install and is very supple when riding. I did have to re-wrap the bars after a few weeks of riding (not because of the tape, but because of a brake cable issue). The tape did tear a little where the sticky stripe under the tape contacted the over lapped edge of the tape. Not a big deal but something to keep in mind.
The kit includes everything needed to re-tape your bars. It is on the thicker side, and I wrapped my bars on the tight side, making the build even thicker. I mostly ride on the hoods, so I'm usually experiencing the tape when on the drops. The padding is nice, and the grip, combined with my gloves, seems good. I appreciate the added bar width, making the bar easier to grasp and shift positions on while reducing some of the pressure on the hands. Overall a good product. No regrets.
Hard to beat classic Cinelli cork bar tape - it's easy to install, east to clean and lasts. I like it better than more synthetic variations for staying dry when its hot and I'm sweating.
I have this tape in my daily driver and my race bike, I live in the wettest place on earth and the tape work great here
I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Im very pleased with the quality of the tape. It has a soft and relaxed feel thats helps Cushion the bumps. I would definitely recommend this bar tape to anyone.
I tend to replace my tape often and this tape is relatively inexpensive and works well. There are some other brands that are stickier (both in terms of grip and the during installation) but this is fine.
Cinelli Cork is perfect for the classic road bike. Absorbs and is comfortable. The old school Paris-Roubaix racers used to double wrap the drop bars for the cobble stone sections (build by the romans) before gel gloves and 28c
tires. Saw the Paris-Roubaix in 2001 from the back seat of a FDJ car. Bought two rolls one for the caad7 on the trainer and the other for the new Cannondale Caad13 frame set I am building up for RAGBRAI 50TH ! Home made pie and a 500 miles week! Sweet!
I am a long time Cinelli Cork user. It holds up well, feels good, it's just hard to beat & BikeTiresDirect always has the best price....but I no longer see my color available!!
Cinelli bar tape is my go to on all of my bikes. I ride rode and gravel. Not too bulky, with the perfect amount of grip. Gotten a little pricey in the last few years, but hey, what hasn't. Don't care for any bar tape with gel, so this is the perfect alternative for me.
