Reviews
Frozen toes is a my curse when weather gets below 60. I've used Pearl Izumi for about ten years and with the Kevlar thread used in certain areas, they've lasted me for about 7 years a pair. I dislike the fitting as the covers don't fit far enough back on my Shimano cycling shoes and can work their way off. The Toe Thingy's were on sale, so I bought a pair and found them better fitting and slightly warmer. I had to trim away the bottom holes to better fit my clips, but they stay on much better. Given the foam rubber material, they're already taking a beating and will likely tear, but having lost and recovered my Pearl's on rides, that's fine with me as running out in the middle of the street to retrieve a Pearl isn't worth the great price on a busy street, so to speak.
TL;DR -- The title says it all.
I appreciate the convenience of this product. It can be easily fitted to your road shoes and remain on the shoes throughout the winter months. I recently rode in 24'F temp with these and wore wool socks. My toes were frozen by the end of the ride. I would recommend using shoe covers for temps below 32.
I purchased these Toe Thingy's to compliment my full neoprene shoe covers when it's cool but dry-ish in the Pacific Northwest. They slip on and off without issue and conform to BOA dials and/or straps. Definitely a piece of kit to keep in the fall/winter/spring rotation.
