Reviews
Using standard 26oz Purist bottles, the cage holds them at a ~15 degree angle, instead of straight. The "jaws" dig far into the bottles' sides. It's as though it was made for a much smaller diameter bottle. This also contributes to unnecessary effort to get the bottle in and out.
It's still functional and unfortunately the only cage I could find that has this much vertical adjustment. But the bottles poking out the side of the bike looks silly and is absurd for *$60* cages. No idea how the clearly bad fit made it to release :/
I replaced them with $25 Trek sideloaders and shorter 22oz bottles. I love my big bottles but these cages aren't worth it.
I mounted 2 of the right side entry cages one on top of the other, in the downtube, and both bottles fit snug but perfect. No rattling, they never move. They come out easily when you pull sideways firmly , and after you get the hang of setting it back properly sideways, on your first try, it'll be a snap. Very good system that works. I'm very pleased with my purchase, with Blackburn, and BikeTiresDirect always getting the deals.
The slanted tubes on the bike did not provide enough space for using of a large water bottle with a traditional water bottle cage. This cage resolve the problem because the bottle slides in horizontally. It holds the bottle securely and it is easy to slide inout.
Bought this cage to fit a bottle on a small mtb frame. Highly adjustable, looks great, durable and holds the bottle tight. Havent lost any bottles to date. It is asymmetric so be sure to figure out if you are a lefty or righty bottle grabber.
This is an excellent side entry bottle cage. It's lightweight, holds bottles securely, yet it's not difficult to get them in and even easier getting a bottle out. I find the long mounting slots to be particularly brilliant, as it allows a higher or lower position on the frame. I needed 3 right-hand cages for a road tandem (they all mount to the lateral tube) since it was tight getting large bottles in and out with standard cages given the frame clearances. My only complaint about these otherwise wonderful cages is that they don't hold the bottles centered on the bike frame. The tops of the bottles protrude further on the right side of the frame on these right entry units. It seems to be a design flaw that should have been discovered in prototyping. Maybe it's not noticeable on small bottles, but with tall bottles, it's quite pronounced. I really hate to give this outstanding product less than five stars, but this is a bothersome niggle to me- I notice it every time I look down while riding, and I don't know of a good way to tune it so it sits centered (and shouldn't have to). I don't want to return them, as I feel they are the best side-loading cage out there, they are simply one small step from perfection.
