Description
A modern marvel; lightweight and rock-solid.
With the SL Sprint Carbon, Zipp set out to design the best performing stem on the market. But in this task, building the lightest stem they could would have been over simplistic. Understanding the demands of competitive riders, Zipp's engineers have endeavored to deliver downright impressive weight savings alongside pro-peloton-worthy stiffness and strength, resulting in a component that delivers equally on all fronts.
To achieve this goal, Zipp's SL Sprint Carbon borrows a few features from counterpart SRAM's Red 22 Carbon Crankset. Using Exogram technology, both components are built using a hollow carbon fiber that's specially shaped to minimize weight and maximize rigidity. This is easy enough to claim, but Zipp has crunched the numbers; The SL Sprint tips the scales at an off-the-chart 1.8 grams for each newton meter of stiffness.
Sure, these performance benefits are great on their own, but riders who know Zipp know that aerodynamics are always in play. The shape of this stem, right down to the included top cap, is designed for speed. Special contours derived from wind tunnel tests allow the SL Sprint Carbon to channel air with wind slicing efficiency, and provide a sleek aesthetic that's right at home on any race machine.
Features:
- Incredible stiffness to weight ratio for maximum efficiency
- Aerodynamic in function, and in appearance; this stem looks incredible
- T25 bolts do not strip easily, provide accurate torque readings, and are incredibly durable
- The SL Sprint Carbon Stem includes stainless steel Torx® T25 hardware and an aero top cap

Reviews
A very stylish stuff carbon stem. Not the lightest stem, but thats the trade off for a robust and stiff construction.
Be careful with the carbon layup. As noted by other reviewers of this stem (on various sites), there is a pattern of blemishes in the carbon layup. The first stem I received had a small bump in the carbon layup on the top side of the stem. Had to get a replacement one shipped out, which was then blemish free. Biketiresdirect was very helpful and responsive in processing the replacement.
This stem looks powerful, feels stiff and amazingly absorbs a lot of vibration. At 120mm length I was happy to have the same feel and confidence in the stem as I did with my 110mm aluminum. Far less elbow and writ numbness with this Zipp carbon stem.
This is my third Zipp SL Sprint stem. I love the look and stiffness of the stem. The star headed bolts threw for a loop when I first tried to adjust the handlebar position. Great investment for the price.
Looks amazing. Stiffest stem Ive ever ridden. Its clamped to an S-works Aerofly handlebar on a 2018 Specialized Venge Pro. Really helps complete the bike. Im 63 250 and I love the group sprint. Ive had other stemhandlebar combos in the past and none complete the feel of the out of the saddle back and forth sprint line this stem allows you too. Its just good.
Very stiff stem that also manages to dampen road buzz nicely. Looks clean and stealth with the included black bolts. Heavy for a carbon stem, but it was designed to be stiff not light.
